Not everyone goes to law school, so it's not very common for just anybody to know about some random court case. So people are taking to social media to share the cases they've come across that are just so ridiculous. The justice system is just bonkers. Like, what??? And sometimes the people who actually won the case is even MORE mind blowing

 

Fox News Defamation Suit (Original)

Someone was suing Fox News for something false Tucker Carlson has said. Fox News argued AND WON by saying that “no reasonable viewer would take Tucker Carlson seriously."

 

The TRUTH About the Infamous McDonalds Coffee Burns Case

People thought it was just some greedy woman suing a big company for money, but it was a senior citizen—79y/o—who got third degree burns over 16% of her body and was hospitalized for over a week… 

 

Turmeric Patent

Of course, the American medical system tried to patent a 1,000+ y/o traditional medicine that's been commonly used in India for centuries… They lost by the way, and the patent was revoked. 

 

10 Years Prison for Stealing Jeans…

I mean, that says it all. A man was caught stealing jeans, they told him to take a plea bargain, he refused because he believed he was innocent. However, there was video of him stealing the jeans. So when he got tried, it took just several minutes before he was found guilty and the judge sentenced him to 10 years, mostly for just “wasting the courts time."

 

Nix vs. Hedden

This was the suit that official declared the tomato as a vegetable! That's right. It's not considered by law, a fruit. Bet you didn't know there was an entire court case behind that reasoning… So, the tomato is scientifically declare a fruit, but in order to tax selling it, it's legally a vegetable. 

 

Selling a Haunted House

Basically, what happened here is some person bought a house, but found out that it was haunted after purchasing, like notably haunted, and wanted to back out of the contract. The seller said no way, that's just show biz, baby. So they went to court and the house was legally declared haunted and the buyer was able to back out. 

 

“The parties are advised to chill”

The judge literally said that for a case between Mattel and MCA Records for the song “Barbie Girl.” Basically, Mattel was upset at the “Barbie Girl” song by the band Aqua because it was “turning Barbie into a sex symbol.” They lost, and MCA tried to counter sue and the judge straight up just told them to chill.
