Yes, you read that right.

Rat. Tail. Fishing.

Florida is full of unconventional individuals. Whether it’s something in the drinking water or the people are just a little kooky, this Florida man proves that there’s also ingenuity wrapped up in the fabric of the bayou life.

Shane Barron, a casual TikToker and lifestyle vlogger recently shared a series of videos showing his father in his natural habitat out on the waters of Floridian swamps. Sean, Shane’s dad, sports a hairdo that had only been rocked by Anakin Skywalker before him: the rat tail, buzzed head combo.

Not only does Sean Baron have a 2ft long rat tail, he puts it to work for him. He uses this long wiry braid as a line, attaching a small fish to the end as bait and using it to bring in bigger fish. You honestly have to see it to believe it.

No rod, no problem.

The Baron men obviously spend a lot of time out on the bayou in their tiny boat or floating off the coastal waters, but they seem to have no fear of the murky depths and are happy to dive in with the apparent guarantee of a good catch. In each video, Sean Baron dives into the water, fully clothed and happily showing his “mullet with a mullet”.

He disappears beneath the surface, unphased by the knowledge that the water is full of crocodiles and bull sharks, one of the most deadly and aggressive breeds of shark.

This is Adam Sandler’s new character

Florida ponytail fishing at its finest. Sean’s braid is good for all occasions and seems to have no problem hooking a fish on command. Despite his father’s constant success, Shane always seems surprised and a bit astonished that he keeps coming back with a fish.

Sean the rat tail fisherman: Part 2

I don’t know if you’ve ever been fishing with a regular rod and pole, but for most people, it doesn’t take less than a minute to come back with a fish. That’s the real miracle here. Not the fact that Sean is simply lowering his face and upper torso into the water to reel in a big one, but the fact that it only takes this man the span of 45 seconds to come up with a fish.

It’s a miracle.

Sean is a local legend for sure and has proven time and time again that we all need to consider more utilitarian hair styles in our future if we want to perform random survivalist tasks in the Florida bayou. And although his accent and enthusiastic voice sound a bit like the infamous Tiger King, we salute this respectable sports fisherman. Sean is hooked on fishing and as always, keeping it reel.
