To live in America, most people either have to have roommates, work more than one job, or both. That means that there are a lot of jobs in the USA that have lots of wiggle room for side hustle instead of your typical 9-5 jobs.
Recently, DoorDash has become increasingly popular for workers and a huge source of income for a lot of people with side hustles that support their livelihood.
This DoorDash employee, who survives mainly on the income from his contract with the app, was fired when a customer claimed that the food was never delivered.
When you report on the app that your food was never brought to you, you automatically get a refund from the company and a bit of an apology, hoping that they can keep you on as a customer. What most people don’t know is that there are repercussions on the working end of the app that can impact people’s lives. In this case, it resulted in the immediate termination of one man’s employment.
This man, after being notified that he was fired from DoorDash for this reason, stormed into the office where he had delivered Chipotle the day before seeking revenge and justice for his wrongful termination.
The woman that he claims he delivered for seems to have no interest in attempting to defend herself and no doubt feels terrible. It’s clear by the shakiness of his voice that without this DoorDash job, he may be in some hot water. He was raging and seeking revenge on the woman to make her lose her job as well– for just being a terrible person in general.
The comment section caught fire as well, with two dueling sides of an argument debating who was in the right in this case. Some people were outraged that the DoorDash guy went back to the woman enraged, seeming to claim that he should have just gotten over it and moved on.
However, there were also a large number of people supporting the man, putting down DoorDash as a company as well as the woman responsible for his firing. It’s actually surprising the number of anecdotes of similar instances came through as well.
Whichever side of justice you believe, it turns out the woman was only on her second week of working at the company she was at and because of the DoorDash man’s video, she WAS fired. Not only that, when this video went viral, DoorDash reached out to the man personally to offer him his job back.
Was justice served? Or does a firing for a firing make the whole world unemployed?
