Home owners' associations are the absolute worst — especially when they try to meddle with people who aren't even in the association. Just because you and your friends have a club doesn't mean everyone else is beholden to your club's rules, but that's what this HOA tried to pull on Redditor u/Alternate_chaos5150, who posted to the popular moral judgment community r/AmITheAsshole to ask whether they were in the wrong for putting up Christmas lights before a nearby HOA permits.
When someone came by their house to tell them not to put up lights so early, OP — who says they've had run-ins with this HOA in the past — told them to get lost and ignored them, because what else are you supposed to do when a bully whose organization you're not part of shows up to ridicule you?
There's no way she has any right to tell this guy what to do, especially since he isn't even a part of her HOA. She's just looking for something to get upset over so that she can wave her false authority around. If you're looking for more internet content, check out a batch of random and relatable memes.
