We always preach about how people don't own cats have no idea what it's like to actually have one. They think cats don't love their humans, they think cats are aloof, they think cats are jerks. Of all of those, only the latter is correct. Cats are jerks, but you come to love that part of them too. Thing is, a lot of us didn't grow up with cats and didn't know a lot about cats either, and there are many, many things that we have learned as cat owners.
We have learned that some cats are obsessed with bread and that some cats will sleep all day but they get a weird unexpected burst of energy at 3am. And we're still learning. The following collection comes from our cat-loving/cat-crazy purrfect audience at ICanHas. If anyone out there knows what cats cats are like and can enlighten us about things that they've learned from being cat owners, it's them. And it's hilarious.
Oh my goodness, that's the most true thing we have ever heard. It's always the most ridiculous thing that will have them going into that defense position. Slide your foot across the floor at an unexpected moment? Your cat will fly into space in response. Ugh, cats are ridiculous, we love them.
Very true as well. They are not aloof at all. Most of them simply won't jump on you right as you come into the house and start licking your face. Cats have more grace than that. Instead, they will how you their butts, sit on your face in the morning, and shed all over your fresh laundry. It's how they show love.
