Sports everybody! Let's get that ball to score! Throw it, kick it, catch it, run it, do a little dance! I don't know… I only watch football for the nachos and free beer. Some people really love football. A stereotype is that American men really really really love their football. If you've ever been a woman working in a male dominated office where most of the men are bonding over sports talk, you tend to start to feel left out. So, what did they teach you in school when you want to become knowledgable in a subject you're unfamiliar with? Research and read, baby!
That's right. You didn't just learn about the mitochondria, you also at least learned some basic Googling skills. Even if you weren't the best student—in fact, I'd argue you're probably best at that because you waited until the last minute to do your assignment and had to become an expert in your subject in a very short amount of time.
A woman on TikTok named Maggie recently went viral for showing just how easy it can be to include yourself in the “men talk sports” conversation. With a quick Google search, she was able to find a short and easy recap of some recent stats and literally read aloud word-for-word. The guys she was chatting up were all very active in the conversation and constantly saying “yes” to agree with her.
It's extra funny too, because her coworkers are totally into the conversation and don't even notice her having to pause every now and then mid-sentence to catch her place in the article. I found the article, I pasted it below (and linked out), she somewhat recapping what it says, but mostly reading it word-for-word and it's hilarious. You can even hear one of her coworkers at the end say in amazement, “daaaaamn Maggie!.”
Viewers love it and ESPN's official TikTok account commented on the video asking if they can use it for their own socials. The official Buffalo Bills even commented on the video finding it hilarious! Viewers are loving how well this worked out for Maggie and want to use this technique themselves.
“I didn’t know this cheat code existed.”
“The “daaamn Maggie” at the end 😂 he was stunned.”
“Them not questioning you stammering over some of the names LMAO”
“Lmaoo 😂 I need to do this next time I am in a football or sports discussion.”
