If you're a cat person, then you understand that undeniable and absolutely overwhelming desire to adopt every single kitten that you see on the street ever. You don't do it every time. You can't adopt them all. But goodness, you want to. And sometimes… well, sometimes, you can't help yourself. Sometimes, when a kitten decides that it's done with outdoor life, when a kitten decides that it's time to be adopted, when a kitten decides to jump into the arms of a human… if you just so happen to be the human of their choice… well, that means you've been adopted, and there is absolutely no going back from that.
The woman in this thread certainly understands that desire. All it took was seeing one picture of this itty bitty kitty who needed help, and that's it, suddenly she was adopting a fifth kitten into her wonderful little warm home, and we are thankful to her.
"June 1st, last year, I was with my daughter visiting a zoo. I receive a msg from my best friend Terri, accompanied by the picture of this scrawny...thing. "I know you said you don't want any more cats but I found this one blind and starving crawling and meowing in the park, heading towards the cars in the street. What should I do...?"
The problem is, Terri, not that I don't WANT any more cats, it's that I CAN'T because of my stupid illness.
But Terri knew how to push my buttons; I kept looking at this picture and I just couldn't imagine myself saying NO to this kitty.
"FINE, Terri, keep it till we get back, I will take care of this poor thing, but you should know that I will name it after you, and I will enjoy yelling "Terri, stop pooping in my flowers!!!"
My daughter and I were very impatient now to meet this creature. I was worried because it looked really bad, probably very bad eyes or even blind... was I going to make it with this kitten?
Luckily, it was better than the vet and I thought. Because of her weird tortie pattern, her eyes looked worse than they were. After a month of bottle feeding, butt wiping, eye cleaning, Terri turned into a pretty spoiled little miss kitten. Mambo Number 5 in our cat collection."
"For all the crazy cat lovers I recommend the square on the floor experiment. You know how they like boxes. They also seem to be interested in squares drawn on the floor. I used tape for my experiment. At that moment only Terri and Poutpout the senior were around. They first smelled it, very intrigued. Then they plopped around it, still observing..."
"During my chemotherapy I used to sleep downstairs on the couch because reasons. It was comfortable but at some point I started having nightmares, some of them quite recurrent. As if something was embracing me from behind (stop giggling) and pulling me into the ground.
Luckily my husband noticed one day that miss Terri had made a hole in the couch and was sleeping inside it. And the monster in my nightmare was her trying to scratch me through the couch..."
"I am glad I got to look after her until her first year. I wish I could be here for her old days... but I hope my husband and daughter will step up and give my dear cats all the care and love they deserve.
Thanks for reading and I wish you and your pets a long happy healthy life, may they bring joy and support to you when sometimes you feel that life is too much..."
