Smell is a very strange thing. Most of the time it makes sense, but it's easy to get duped. It's not hard to find yourself pining after the smell of something that has no nutritional or sentimental value. There's no evolutionary benefit to being attracted to the smell of gasoline, but here we are, spending a little bit too much time filling up so that we can get in a few delicious whiffs of expensive go-go juice.
Sometimes it's connected to a certain memory. We'll find ourselves wanting to smell a few pens just because they take us back to the good old days. But other times, for no reason, a terrifically hazardous chemical will smell like maple syrup, and we just have to sit there wondering if we're insane.
No, it's the chemical's fault for smelling like breakfast. Anyway, it's a bad idea to huff paint, even for nostalgia purposes.
