This vindictive a-hole of a boss saw fit to mandate surprise overtime when they came to the conclusion that their employees had missed too much work.
Sure, it's understandable that they were feeling some stress and pressure while looking at the loss of man-hours for the week. There were probably some slumping numbers and unfinished tasks that were contributing to their impulse to pick up the phone. But, as adults and professionals, it's important that we control our impulses; there will always be times when we feel like we should send a message or pick up the phone when that isn't a good idea at all. It's better for the business and people to take a calmer, more calculated approach, figure out why and if there is a trend and then act accordingly with level-headed policy and measures. Demanding unscheduled shifts in order to increase man-hours will only (ironically) lose you man-hours when your workers refuse and quit — or when you lose control and fire them in your attempts to retain power.
After dismissing this worker when she refused to attend her last-minute-scheduled shift, this boss took things a step further and fired her boyfriend, too (last image). After sharing her story and the screenshots to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit, Reddit user u/fruitypoppies (OP) hung around to provide more context to her experiences and share some more insight.
Keep reading to see the screenshots and comments below. For more, check out this worker who was fired for giving their two-week notice, before being contacted by the employer later to ask for their assistance.
