Well, turns out that's not always the case, as this waitress was straddled with a $200 charge by her employer. The server's brother, Redditor u/Sylentt_, shared their alleged story in a post shared to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit. “My sister works for a small restaurant in the area as a server.” The title of the post reads, “They charged her $200 for a dine and dash.”

The Reddit user then goes on to detail the way events unfolded, sharing how the table consisted of a “full family” who slipped out without paying the bill. The server was blamed for this and made to cover the cost of their meal.

“Do they expect my sister to stop them?” the user asks. “Grab them by the arm or some sh*t? They’re docking her pay for something that isn’t her fault. Actually, it doesn’t even come out of her paycheck; she has to pay it.”

Readers were outraged by the alleged events and shared their thoughts and some helpful advice in the comments. Keep reading for these as well as selected highlights of the original Reddit post.
