Just like everything else, the festive season starts to lose its shine as we get older. Santa isn't real, it gets dark at 4pm, and family gatherings can be more stressful than worth the effort.
Still, it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to keep the magic alive. Most of us spend much of the year living lives that don't have a lot of joy in them. In theory, we should jump at the opportunity to show some generosity to those we care about.
However, @_goldraven seems to think differently. Referencing an idea she got from a TikTok, she suggested that people should only buy presents for themselves at Christmastime.
While plenty called out this distinctly Scrooge-like idea, there were people who seemed to wholeheartedly agree with the concept because of reasons relating to anti-consumerism (although the whole thing involves spending a similar amount of money). It doesn't take a lot of effort to put together a wish list, just saying.
