Geriatric French Rock Climber Has Spent Decades as a Risk-Taking Renagade, Free Soloing Deadly Rock Faces and Skyscrapers Wearing Nothing But Leather Pants and Nerves of Steel

Over the years, rock climbing has skyrocketed in popularity. What once was a weird sport for outcasts and loners has become a whole new beast. Weirdo outcasts are no longer loners living in tents in the mountains and some climbers have even become hot-shot athletes just like any football player or basketball player would be. One man, Alain Robert, a 60 year old man who's been climbing rocks since before any of those new aged ‘hot shots’ were a glint in their father's eye, takes the sport to a whole new level of badassery.

Most climbers have a sense of self-sustainability, using safety gear like harnesses and ropes to hold them onto the mountain, but Alain apparently trusts his abilities more than thousands of dollars-worth of gear. Alain grew famous for his free-soloing, which is when you climb without safety precautions. He's also very untraditional in his choice of clothing, looking more like he's about to storm the stage at a Rolling Stone's concert and not climb a 300m mountain face.

It seems that Alain's outdoor climbing style tends to lean towards animal prints and leather, whereas when he chooses to do urban climbs, like when he illegally scales the outside edges of skyscrapers, Alain chooses to dress with a little more flair. This man is truly the most extra human being on this Earth.

Alain has a simplistic DGAF approach to life that encourages thousands to live by the same standard. Although several European governments (including France, Germany, Spain, and more) are tired of slapping him with fines for climbing their buildings, this 60 year old man seems to not care what anyone thinks, grabbing life by the neck.

We can all take notes from the French on this one, when you eat ‘pain’ for breakfast, there's nothing to fear during the day. You you might as well sieze every moment and climb the highest peaks in whatever clothes you have on your back. In fact, you might as well make it a spectacle and be as insane as possible.
