Font - CO r/pettyrevenge. Posted by u/Timely-Caterpillar88 A coworker called me a sty technician. I reported him to HR and got him fired. TL:DR Hardware tech was stalking and insulting me (desktop tech) without any evidence on the shared ticketing system. I reported it to my direct manager and company HR. He got fired!

Font - Full story: I worked at a large company with various teams in the IT department. I was on the desktop team, which basically troubleshoots computer software and hardware, but did not repair/replace hardware. A rude coworker ("Jack" for the rest of the story)worked on the hardware team. We use the same ticketing system, and are on the same larger IT support team, but have different direct managers. One time I put two separate tickets in for two computers that both had hardware issues. As th

Font - I showed my direct manager the screenshot of Jack's comment. He said "Jack shouldn't write comments like that. That is uncalled for. I'll talk to his manager. A few weeks later. I worked on another computer with a hardware issue. Jack took the ticket and wrote "There is no hardware issue. only incompetence" Now I was ped as I diagnosed the issue and there was indeed a hardware issue. (these are very old computers that are constantly getting "fixed by duct tape and bubblegum". So I took a

Font - TootsNYC +3 "All the other folks he harassed" is right. People don't get fired for two incidents. They get fired for a pattern. Or for how they react to being called on it.

Font - GRO pandaphanta Good riddance! Good on you, OP, for reporting that jerk. Now he won't have a good reference from the company if he ever needs it! Reply Share 204 Timely-Caterpillar88 OP Thanks! Yeah. I no longer work there. I still keep in touch with my former manager. I called him to ask for a reference, and that's when I found out "Jack" was fired. So that was a nice cherry on top :)

Font - MistraloysiusMithrax "Only incompetence" hahaha don't put in writing a condemnation of your own work while harassing others too

Font - UnicornAllie I wouldn't call it petty personally, you followed protocol and HR actually pulled through! If he wants to be a jacka at a work place he should be fired

Font - Metroknight Your complaint was the straw that broke the camel's back. To be fired over those complaints would suggest there was other complaints or reasons that was not known publicly already on file and the person was warned multiple times before so they were on their chance.

Font - CaptianArtichoke This sort of gatekeeping bullsh is very common in IT and it's the culture that paralyzes productivity. All good companies know that you fire a S.

Font - SnooWoofers5703 I think there is at least one or two a- holes who think just because they are in a managerial position they can manipulate coworkers. You did good instead of retaliating by commenting back you just took it to upper management. I hope he has learnt his lesson, maybe not...

Rectangle - LyraMorgan You got a good HR there. I got bullied and reported him several times but aside from some stern words he didn't get fired. It was h... Glad you got him!

Font - Baba_is_Yew Ugh I'm in a similar position but I'm on the Service Desk and my Jack is the Desktop Team Supervisor. My problem is that Jack is smart enough to not put his stuff in writing. Imagine getting asked what troubleshooting you did on a ticket, only for the answer to be on the notes. Now imagine that happens for months.

Font - worldisone I wonder if I made videos showing the techs at my work do nothing all night if they would finally fire a few of them. I've literally stood there in front of them asking for help and they ignore me until their YouTube videos are done then finally sigh and ask what I can do.

Font - txaaron Put a ticket in. You will be assisted in the order it was received. If you walk up to my desk and haven't put a ticket in, I will tell you to go put a ticket in and wait your turn. IT guys are described as overpaid, lazy, and rude. In reality, we have a million things to do and are getting asked by everyone and their dog why "Suzy's computer won't connect. Her power is out right now but she needs to work. When will you fix it??" And we sometimes come off as rude because we answer
