Spicy BookTok Welcomes Hockey Players: Teams are starting to read smut on social media and are going viral

The CEO of TikTok, Shou Chew, used “BookTok” as an example of why TikTok is actually a great place. If you are unaware of what BookTok is, it is a community that has blossomed and exploded on TikTok for book lovers. All kinds of genres are discussed and shared—it's basically an all-inclusive universal book club. It's a beautiful place. 

And when we say all genres are accounted for, that also includes smut. Oooh baby that spicy literature—BookTok can't get enough of it. Authors of their own smut novels are even on TikTok discussing their hot and heavy stories. Even though it's a rated-R genre, it's discussed in an appropriate way that still, of course, follows the rules and guidelines of TikTok. Even with those parameters, spicy BookTok is thriving. 

Recently, spicy BookTok has gotten a new group of fans they never would have expected: Hockey players. It all started when one avid BookTok woman from Australia merged her love for the spicy novels with her love for hockey. She's a fan of the Brisbane Lightning team and got one of the players to read one of the especially hot parts in a hockey-based smut novel. The player's reaction was so sincere and adorable, that it instantly went viral and other hockey teams from around the world started to follow suit.
