We get distracted by the outside, but it's what's on the inside that counts. That's especially true with cakes, which can look stunning on the outside (thanks to fondant or other technically-edible decorations) but taste bland and dry on the inside. In my book, no matter how unfortunate the cake turns out, if it tastes good, it's still a win.
Everyone has had a few baking mishaps. There was that time when we were all stuck indoors for a while back in 2020, and a lot of us got into baking bread. I kept making loaves that were so flat they were useless. Instead of fluffy, warm loaves, I created floppy, smushed-looking loaves that were only a few inches tall and six inches wide, making them pretty useless for a sandwich. No matter how well you follow a recipe, some foods just don't feel like baking properly. If your oven is too hot that day or you wrongly measure your flour, that baked good might just decide to droop into an inedible dough. With cake decorating, it takes practice…and also, please don't frost hot cakes, everyone. They have to cool first, even though icing the cake is the most fun part.
Next up, these bosses make their workplace a lot like "The Office" with their constant goofy shenanigans.
