Absent Dad Refuses To Tell His Girlfriend About His Kids Until They've Been Dating For One Year
It's important to know whether the person you're dating has kids from a previous relationship. At this point in my life, that would probably be a dealbreaker for me. I don't think I have the emotional capacity to be a nefarious stepmother yet. I do not want to end up on a mattress in the middle of a lake because of two red-headed Lindsay Lohan-looking ragamuffins. Some people might be into that, but I want to wait until I'm at least 28.
If I dated someone and found out after the second date that they had kids, I would be genuinely upset. I know it's awkward to reveal super personal details about yourself immediately after you meet someone, but it's not unheard of on a first date. One man recently went viral for revealing he wouldn't tell a girlfriend about his kids until a year into the relationship, and people are rightfully freaking out.
