This sounds like any job candidate's worst nightmare. Picture this: you start looking for a job with a higher salary than your current position. You've probably asked for a raise on several occasions, to no avail. You finally hear back from another company that has expressed interest. You get pumped for the interview because everything about the other company seems great: great benefits, fun perks, higher pay, better hours, etc. You excel during that first round, and you excel during the second round because of course you did. You finally get the job offer via email, and you can't wait for this big life change. You inform your current boss that you will be leaving the company. You're even gracious enough to give them two weeks' notice. Your boss is disheartened but understands that you've found a better opportunity.
Plot twist: you receive a new email one week later from the HR representative of your new company. She informs you that the job offer you recently accepted has now been rescinded due to "internal changes" within the organization. Um… what? You literally JUST gave notice. You end up having to beg for your current boss to allow you to stay, but it's too late. They're not going to take you back now. What a mess.
This, unfortunately, is exactly what happened to this Redditor, who shared that he wrote a negative Glassdoor review following the experience. He was then contacted by the company about taking down the review, which thankfully, he refuses to do. And he shouldn't! Job candidates should know to be wary of this HR department.
