DIY is a fun hobby… some crafters just take it way too far.
Upcycling and downcycling have been trendy past times in recent years. Upcycling refers to recycling something into an item that's more valuable than before, like turning a bunch of plastic bottles into a fancy chair. Then there's downcycling, which is what these crafty people below are doing. That's when you take an item and recycle into something less valuable, like the dad who tried to make a lamp classier, using only spray paint and hot glue. The result, as you can see in #4, looks less like a $1000 lamp and more like, well, something that will end up in the trash any day now. Downcycling often has that unfortunate downside. You might create something new, only to realize it's not very nice looking, or that it doesn't work as you planned.
These people have found some interesting ways to integrate DIY crafts into their lives, for better or worse. They aren't all bad---the person who created a taller bathtub is actually a genius!
Check out these wild projects below. Then, these retail workers told all about the funniest, dumbest questions their customers ever asked, like one dude who asked a retail worker, 'Do these smell like the right pants to you?'
