Wow, that was unexpected. Initially reading this Reddit thread about turn-off while swiping through Tinder, I didn't expect most answers to be about selfies with dead animals. To be frank, I've never had a dating app profile (true story), so I don't know what my turn-offs would be. I could imagine that photos of someone with sunglasses, or hiding themselves could be bereft in attractiveness, because hey, the whole point is about looks. Though there's a section to express your traits, qualities, or humor, at the end of the day if you don't get the handsome check mark then it's a left swipe.
The world of internet dating seems to be cut throat in a way; you're constantly being judged and judging, you have boundary-less moments to monitor your perceived attractiveness to other people, and maybe these apps do us more damage than they do good. But at the same time, it allows for two strangers to happen upon each other in a way they probably wouldn't have bumped into without the apps. Though many have bad luck with dating apps, and while catfishing, ghosting, or any number of behaviors can be grating, there are many couples who have found each other with dating apps. Let's take time to laugh about all that these apps bring us.
