What the customer wants, the customer gets. That's the rule of the land at one company, but this person's boss had them take that idea way too far.
Companies make their employees go through the hiring process. They read their resumes, make sure they have a college degree, and reach out to references. Then, when that highly qualified employee actually does start their job, the company doesn't care about their qualifications one bit. It must be infuriating, especially for people who are talented and knowledgeable in their field of expertise.
That's what happened to u/Saikar22 at their industrial process engineering gig. They were working on a project involving a sticky substance, but for one customer, that product was apparently not sticky enough. The employee writes that they were confused about this from the jump, because the stickiness of the material already gave their machines trouble at times. But the customer kept demanding trials to make this product even stickier, no matter what the end result might be.
This tale is a long read, but it's a really great one. And after that, read about the property manager who assured his tenants over and over again that they'd get their security deposit back, only to change his mind.
