Real Target heads know that there's nothing like walking in those big double doors with no plan and all the time in the world. You get your little Starbucks drink, push around a big cart, and wait for inspiration to strike. And it always does. Whether it's a random set of plates you never knew you needed a candle that has just the right smell, or a ceramic pumpkin that you'll have to wait until Halloween to unveil.
You don't go to Target just to run errands, you go to Target to find peace. The endless white shelves calm the nervous system. The possibility of having everything at your fingertips makes you feel alive. The shelves and shelves of school supplies make you feel like you can get down to business. Is it a little sad that a big box store can make us feel this way? Absolutely. But I didn't invent capitalism, I just live in it.
