In an internet landscape dominated by a few powerful tech giants, it's refreshing to feel like we're reclaiming a bit of that power through creating, sharing, and reacting to memes. Individually, they might seem trivial, but collectively they give us a voice in ways that can be hard to express otherwise. While it's a stretch to claim that every absurd image macro is a form of rebellion, they certainly add a touch of novelty to our lives that can sometimes seem like it is sorely missing. They're almost as effortless to create as they are to relate to, and it's difficult to imagine communicating the thoughts any other way nowadays (we are all victims of the neverending creep of brain rot). Though all the endless posting of garbage might wear us down eventually, we owe it to ourselves to enjoy the moment and to keep creating, consuming, and sharing memes.
