  • Neighbor parks her car in front of our house daily. texted her Sunday about some landscaping we were having done this month. The landscapers had to ask her to move the car this morning and I got this.
  • At a loss as far as what to do. I feel like I have plenty of notice and I've tried being a good neighbor but they're generally ri de any time I've tried asking for them to move the car.
  • iMessage Sunday 3:08 PM Hi e, it's your neighbor Wanted to give you a heads up, we're gonna be cutting down the tree in the front yard on Tuesday and having some rock laid towards the end of the month. The contractor is going to have the rock dumped on the sidewalk in front of our yard around the 25th. Everything should be done and cleared by the 31st Delivered
  • I really didn't appreciate the people coming to cut down your tree ringing my door bell at 815 and waking up my whole house of kids that don't feel well. And I didn't like the fact that you asked my daughter for my phone number instead of coming and asking me I don't like anybody to have my phone number.
  • MetalLad2141 "If you don't want your daughter giving out your number, you should talk to her about it." Parking situation s ks, but you tried. May want to be a bit more direct and explicitly state you would like the car moved.
  • AsstReg MGMT OP I've asked in the past and she said "I won't have my kids parking across the street because it's dangerous".
  • gc1 No offense OP, but I must have missed the part of your text thread where you explicitly asked her please not to park her car there.
  • AsstRegMGMT OP I didn't directly ask her to move her car but I felt it was implied that having a massive tree cut down that has limbs hanging over the car ment to move it. I'll be more direct in the future.
  • Ypsilantine Never beat around the bush/hope they read between the lines for something like this. We've been having issues with various neighbors parking their second cars in our assigned space (our unit was empty for awhile) and it took about a month of polite but very direct statements to get them to stop. It was anxiety- inducing as h 'I but it got results!
  • Redxluckyxcharms OP, do you live in an HOA that you can ask them to cite her for parking infront of your house specifically? Why can't she park infront of her own house on the daily? I know you don't own the road or anything but why can't she park infront of her house?
  • AsstRegMGMT OP Don't have an HOA. She has 4-5 cars.
  • EnterNickname98 Sending a contractor to ask a child for a phone number is a no-no. So what if they are rde, you are the adult.
  • AsstRegMGMT OP Her daughter is an adult. I asked the daughter who was in their driveway cleaning her car at the time for her number.
  • Calm_Ranger7754 What's the issue? You do not own the street in front of your house. It public parking. Sure the other person could be nicer, but to me both are here. I would hate to be neighbors with either.
  • AsstRegMGMT OP I don't have an issue with her parking in front of the house. I am fully aware it's a public easement and she is within her rights. I didn't want her car to be damaged.
  • iPartyLikelts1984 How exactly was she rɩ 'e when you've asked previously? Has she refused to move it when you've asked?
  • AsstRegMGMT OP Mail was not being delivered and I let her know. She came over wanting to start a fight and I calmly let her know we don't have a problem with
  • her parking there but we're having issues with the mail. She acted as if I was being ridiculous asking her to park on the other side of the street
  • blizzard36 Next time make sure the post office carrier knows it's her car, not yours. (I assume it's a public street.) That way they can direct the fines for obstructing the delivery of the mail her way.

  • Update

Today 3:31 PM Apologies that the landscapers had to ring your doorbell this morning. It was my intention to avoid any issues by giving you the heads up a few days in advance. I will be deleting these texts and removing your number from my phone. In the future how would you like me to contact you, to resolve issues or notify you of any upcoming work that will affect you, if I can't reach you directly? Delivered
  • You are more than welcome to leave a note in my mailbox or on my door if I don't answer the door when you come. If I'm not home I can go to your house when I return.
  • Update: I acknowledge I should have been direct in asking her to move the car. Her daughter is 18/19 so I figured I was not crossing any line by asking her for her mother's phone number. I chose the path of civility as this
  • person is my neighbor and frankly I don't want to make enemies with them or their family. Sorry if it's not as spicy of an update as folks wanted!
  • shebringsthesun Leaving a note in her mailbox is illegal. This woman sounds insufferable. Yes, your original messages weren't direct enough because we must assume all people are idiots. But boo hoo.
  • dangerdanes Don't be a doormat. Stand up for yourself. You gave her warning and she did not listen.
  • Patricknc18 So she doesn't like people calling OR knocking on her door. Do you have a carrier pigeon?
  • DTM-shift "I don't appreciate that you asked for my number instead of coming to my house and talking to me directly. I also don't appreciate that the tree guys came to my house and talked to me directly."
