If you have to make your mom swear to “behave,” it's already a sign that you should reconsider the invite.

There are some that wouldn't believe this story because our protagonist's family is insisting that she forgive her mom despite doing something so despicable. However, plenty of families will put up with horrendous behaviour in order to keep the peace. Also, if this mother has a history of these sort of incidents, some might actually wave it away, saying, “She's just like that. Accept her for who she is.”

Mom ruins daughter's wedding by crying and "speaking her truth" about the groom, bride refuses to forgive her despite family pressure: "She thinks I settled because he's not a doctor or lawyer like she wanted"
There are some wedding traditions that should probably be done away with by now. Plenty of brides are breaking traditions by having their mother, grandmother, or another woman in her life walk her down the aisle in lieu of a father or father figure. While white still dominates bridal fashion, women are more often choosing to sport different colors on their special day. One tradition that still lives on in contemporary wedding ceremonies is the officiant asking if anyone has any objections. Originally, this was asked in case anyone knew if the bride and groom were actually closely related or if one was already married. However, nowadays it's really just an invitation for drama.
In our story today, a mom takes this invitation personally. She stands up before the guests and waxes poetic over how she doesn't think the groom is the right fit for her daughter – waterworks and all. The bride spends the rest of her evening faking smiles and trying not to overhear the whispers. When her mom contacts her to apologise, it's not surprising that our protagonist is not so open to forgiveness. Scroll down for more.
