Cooking can become one of those things that you really master and can prepare really delicious food, or the other way around, where you don't even know the difference between a cup and a tablespoon. I'm on the second side of things… but don't get me wrong. I had to realize I'm on this side after years and years of failed cooking, during which my parents almost kicked me out of the house because of the messes that I used to make. Eventually, I concluded that I can either cook the simplest meal ever or buy food already made, and that's it. And I'm fine with it, actually.

There's something so crazy about people feeling like they have to be really good at cooking, as if this were a treasure that we all need to have to feel we have accomplished anything. But I totally disagree. Not being a good cook doesn't mean we cannot succeed in other fields in life… maybe I'm not good at cooking, but I'm an excellent sports player (which is still not my case). What I'm trying to say is that it's important to decide where you put all of your energy when it comes to hobbies. You can try multiple of them until you meet the one you'll conquer.

So, if there's anything I can help you with, this post is to help you not feel discouraged when things don't turn out the way you want them to. The best thing that I learned from cooking fails is to be patient with myself and to take my self-worth away from that side and put it somewhere else. Let me give you a real example of something that actually happened to me. When I realized that cooking is not for me and it will never be, I decided to try running. Why? I'm not sure, but I've always liked the outfits and running gear. And a month ago, I began training for my first half-marathon! So, in essence, with some failures, there's always a reward and something new that comes up!
