Dog Shelter Posts a Video for Their Longest Resident's 1st Birthday, TikTok Gets Him Adopted in Less Than a Week

The sweetie pittie that's been living in a North Carolina shelter since last year was finally able to go to his forever home last week. It was only five days after the shelter posted a now-viral video of him celebrating his first birthday with no potential adopters.

The video shows the happy fuzz ball bouncing around getting new toys and enjoying a canine cake and other doggie treats. He was turning one and the rescue employees wanted to make it special for him. The video is bittersweet, because even though Gingerbread is obviously having the time of his life, he still had no loving forever family and a warm home for himself. The sweet baby deserves all the love he can get, so when the GCACE rescue posted the video saying his only birthday wish was “a family” TikTok went into action.

Gingerbread's 1st Birthday Party:

After receiving almost 100k views, 15.9k likes, and almost 800 comments, Gingerbread's destiny was being prepared. TikTokers really said, “oh no, this baby needs a home STAT.” One commenter even said, “TikTok do your thing and find this sweet boy a home”—almost manifesting the eventual outcome.

Only five days after posting the initial video, the shelter posted an update. To Gingerbread's followers' glee, he had been adopted and was on his way home.

Gingerbread Gets Adopted 5 Days Later:

Though we don't know who the adopters are, many viewers had commented that they wanted to adopt or knew somebody who would. So, it's possible his eventual parents were right there in the comments. TikTok might be home to a lot of dumb videos, but we can scroll happily today knowing the sweet 1-year-old pittie Gingerbread finally got home with a little help from going viral on this silly social media app.
