Girl Finds Out Her Photos are Being Used to Catfish Men, Ends Up Becoming Friends with One of the Victims

TikToker Katie aka @katiexxlilly posted a video a few days ago sharing a bizarre story from her past. For her “story time” she reenacted a moment in her life that could've gone really badly, but ended up pretty good. She was only a teenager and was in Florida on vacation. As she was walking around, a guy approached her so excited to see her. He knew her name, acted like they have been connected for a while, and even show her pictures he had of her on his phone. Katie was thoroughly freaked out because she was sure she had never seen this guy before in her life. 

“Bro when I was 16, a stranger approached me and things got weird.”

In the now-viral video, she says the man tried to go in for a hug and she immediately backed away in fear. The guy seemed just as confused as Katie, however. So upon further discussion of the situation, Katie finds out there is an actual person texting him photos of herself and pretending she is Katie.

When she first posted the video, she left it at that and drove her followers crazy with the cliff hanger. It wasn't until days later that she posted a follow-up video providing the full explanation of the story. Even in the many videos she posted before she gave the updated, her followers are commenting on other videos begging for the part 2 of this catfish story.

In the update she says that she put the phone number that was sending this poor boy photos of Katie and pretending to be her on Myspace and asked if anyone knew it. Eventually, a friend of her's responded saying it was a girl she goes to school with. When Katie found out who it was, it turned out to be an old friend from her Girl Scouts days. 

She got her mom to call this girl's mom, but the catfishing girl must've seen Katie asking about her phone number, because she had done a hard factory reset on all her electronics, destroying any evidence. Though the girl didn't get any sort of punishment for using Katie's photos to catfish somebody, Katie did end up making a friendship with the victim. She says they never dated because he is just not her type, but that they stayed friends. A rare happy ending to a catfish story.
