Daddy Yankee Retiring has Become the 13th Reason for Reggaeton Fans on TikTok

A few days ago Daddy Yankee announced that after 32 years of music he is retiring. The reggaeton musician hit mega stardom in the early '00s and has been a huge reason the genre has gotten so popular. Many of his young fans have never even lived in a world without Daddy Yankee in the limelight. Even though he hasn't released a full studio album in a decade, his music is always on the airwaves. His first hit “Gasolina” was deemed by Rolling Stone as the 50th best song of all time. He's got a very strong fan following, and the fans right now are not taking the announcement too well. 

You'd think since the artist first hit it big in the early ‘00s his fans would all be elder millennials, but that’s just not the case. Those millennials raised their kids with Daddy Yankee music and now those kids are huge fans. So he's not only leaving his original fanbase behind, also new ones that didn't get to enjoy him as long. He's not completely leaving them empty handed, however. He's finally releasing another full length studio album and he's going on a massive world tour. 

Even though he's going out with a bang and fans are happy about that, they are still crushed that this will be the last time ever they get to see him or get any new music from him. Daddy Yankee isn't just a fandom, it's a lifestyle.
