Being called a “cat lady” started off kind of as an insult coinciding with being called a “spinster” or “old maid.” But it's 2022 and we all know those terms are antiquated—some might even say they've become embraced. Being a cat lady, especially, is something cat moms hold with pride these days. To be a cat lady is now pretty cool. You love cats and cats love you, what's so bad about that? Nothing! In fact, it rules. And the kids are starting to catch on.
TikToker @kenyalebon1980 has recently discovered that she is known as her neighborhood's cat lady—and she loves it. She walks her cat around leashed in a harness and the neighborhood children come and pet her fur baby. They've now sparked up a friendship and the kids will even play in her front yard and use her Alexa to keep tabs on the time so they know when to go home.
“Are you here, Cat Lady?”
The first video she posted of her experience being the neighborhood cat lady is a child asking from outside her window, “are you here, Cat Lady?” She responds yes and then the kids ask if they could put a timer on her Alexa so they know when it's time to go back home. The entire scene is extremely wholesome. You know this woman is helping these children to create happy core memories.
“Alexa, I'm fine!” “…Here's some music by Maroon 5”
The kids play outside her window and ask her Alexa questions and the Cat Lady makes sure they stay safe and go home when their mom asks. The TikToker says she used to be a teacher and has always been good with children. In one video she posted she says she believes she was put on this world to help children. She says she experienced trauma as a child and though she says she has since grown from that, she doesn't want any other child to experience that. So she fully embraces her role as the neighborhood cat lady.
Becoming Cat Lady pt. 1
Becoming Cat Lady pt. 2
In all the videos she makes sure to hide the faces of the children for their safety. When she talks to the children it's clear she was a teacher for a very long time because she knows exactly how to talk to them at the perfect level of grown and young. She met the children one day when she was working with her garage door open and the children approached her. They wanted to meet her cat and chat with her. Since then they've had a beautiful friendship.

A mom commented, “But as a mom, neighbors like you are the real MVPs, I have one, my kids love her, they think she is so cool.” Another viewer said, “I hope u never move. One day they'll tell stories like, ‘remember cat lady? what happened to her?’" “Good neighbors create beautiful core memories for kids! You’re an amazing human—keep sharing your light ❤️,” another person said.
In conclusion, this woman is amazing and every neighborhood needs a designated Cat Lady.
