That's the sort of church I could get behind. I haven't heard from Mm tonight but the plan was to move Dad to a rehab this afternoon. The expectation is he'll be there 7-10 days.

You can be sure that Mom will be keeping an eye on him. She's spent days with him and has been sleeping mostly at the hospital. If they send him to the rehab I think they will she'll be there all day but won't be able to spend the night. That's a good balance as she'll really be able to get some sleep at night.

Well, they identified the bladder infection and then later discovered a blood infection so they brought him back to the hospital. Fortunately the antibiotic they have him on is the right one for this strain as well. I think the current plan is to get him a bit stronger and release him to a rehab so he can gain more strength in a supervised environment. I don't know if this is going to turn into a more long term situation. I think it's going to be easier on Mom. Sigh...

I'd imagine the coyote band is ready to move on when they find the humans are stirring. That would be odd to hear the howling so close. Maybe they were looking for an armadillo snack. I don't know how much meat is on them... being there in the South Chuck probably has a recipe for them. Ah, stereotypes...the crutch of the intellectually lazy. Dad is back home. Turns out he had a bladder infection. Mom is happy to have him home and she's hoping things might return to whatever normal is now.

Dad has been in the hospital a couple of days. Mom had him transported to the ER after a stretch went where he refused to eat or drink. They haven't found anything in any of the tests but he's pretty weak. He's supposed to come home tomorrow. I wish I could be more help but I've got my hands full. Yeah, I'm a fan of keeping pets indoors at night. They're part of the family and we should want them near and protected. I guess there are lots of situations that people deal with where they make compromises. Bird flipping met extinction with me as well. One never knows how people will react. I usually go with a passive aggressive shake of the head but even something mild like that can spark a reaction that makes no sense. I just prefer to ignore and lay low most of the time.

It's pretty amazing that I've never been to the Garlic Festival with my love of garlic. It's less than 30 miles away but I just hate the crowds. The random nature of this violence is what really makes it scary. One thinks that living clean and staying away from "dangerous places" will insulate one from bad stuff. I guess I'm influenced by the vet shows I watch like Dr. Pol. It seems like dogs are forever getting into trouble with porcupines and I assume that anywhere folks are dealing with wildlife are exposed to all species. I think of San Jose as pretty urban but we get possums, raccoons and the occasional mountain lion or coyote. The foothills are only about five miles or less from here so the critters get to wandering and mischief at night. I'm waiting to hear from Mom. She had Dad at the ER yesterday afternoon and evening...maybe into the night. Dad was being obstinate and wouldn't eat or drink. She was worried about what that could spin into if he persisted. She didn't call me until about 9pm and didn't want to "bug me". Sigh...she's really got her hands full these days and I can't really be any help except to listen to her frustrations. All things considered, we've been pretty fortunate but this is a difficult phase.

Tacky indeed. Ya gotta go with your strengths and I've long been tacky. Armadillos, eh? I guess most critters are content to be left alone. I'd take armadillos over skunks, coons or certainly porcupines. Don't trip in any of those holes. That could be dangerous. I'm finally off to bed. Chat with you tomorrow.

Old Yeller messed with me too when I watched it. When you saw it as a kid was it still "Old Yeller" or was he Young Yeller back then? Sorry, couldn't resist...and yet I should have. Weight, Energy and Strength are a process but I'm confident I'll get where I need to be.

Has there ever been a good dog movie that didn't require a Kleenex at some point. I did enjoy A Dog's Purpose and I'm sure I mentioned it to you. We need network stations for pro games. I can usually find the college games I want on cable channels.

I'm facing the same issues with network channels out here. I don't watch network tv too much though. That is, until football season. MadBum is on the mound for us tonight. Will it be his last start in SF? The organization has no idea whether we'll be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. We need to rebuild for the future but it would be a shame to break up the team right now. I've enjoyed the hell out of the last 19 games...16 wins. We can't keep this up though.

I was thinking maybe AT&T was messing with you again. I don't know that it's much better that the weekend was just dull and boring. The bright side would definitely have been the ice cream. My weekend was similar but I added plenty of baseball. The Giants had a four game series with the Mets. We took three of four from them and all of those were extra inning games. The last couple of weeks have been fun for the Giants. The season as a whole has been pretty disappointing. Now that we're back to .500 it feels better. Some of the young kids we've brought up are adding some real excitement.

I've been watching Apollo 11 stories as well. I was only 6 at the time but I recall watching the landing live. It really was an amazing feat. The bravery the astronauts showed was incredible. The logistics were mind-boggling...still are.

That's a very good sign that sis was oblivious to the fact that there was a quake. She's obviously not preoccupied about it and is enjoying the family. Glad to hear that Barry isn't pestering you.

My voice is well-suited to the car and maybe the shower but I rarely sing in either of those places. Clearing out a room can be a useful skill. Keep that in mind the next time you have unwelcome visitors. Whistling well is nice, too. I don't whistle well.

I didn't say that my singing was awful...just that the comments would be. I'm not saying my singing is good though. I actually sang in public once. A good friend from high school was graduating from a nursing program and she was going to play "Calypso" on her flute. She asked me to accompany her on my guitar. I was comfortable with that. About a week before the ceremony she asked me to sing. That I wasn't comfortable with but I told her I'd record my singing and see what it sounded like. I did and felt I wouldn't embarrass myself TOO badly but there was no way I was going to sing the yodeling part in the chorus. Fortunately there wasn't much attention paid to me. It's amazing what a woman can talk a guy into.

Did your sister feel that 4.9 this morning? That would be a good one to feel and check it off the bucket list...though I'm not sure experiencing an earthquake is on her bucket list. Are you getting rain? The only thing I can think of is that the wedding was a setup for a bad Youtube video. The comments would be awful.

Okay, that's it. I need to give up peach yogurt, afternoon naps or afternoon naps after eating peach yogurt but I had a doozy of a dream just now. So picture this...I find myself at a wedding for some people I don't know. During the ceremony I start walking up the steps on the altar and grab a microphone. The groom grabs another mic across the altar and starts to sing to surprise his bride. He does the first verse of "Ben" by Michael Jackson on his own but then from the body language of his nod I'm expected to join in. We never rehearsed this but somehow they convinced me that I'd know the lyrics. I'm a gamer though so I fake it as best I can. I get through that verse and he shifts to "Take the Long Way Home" by Supertramp. Fortunately, just then a landscape crew walks in with a couple of blowers and start clearing the altar and scattering the wedding party. I make my escape and then wake up. That was just too weird.

With any luck your sister will have a fun and uneventful trip. The three year old should help keep her mind off quake potential. I haven't seen any babies but the nest is right at the front door. I don't want to disturb the nest. I open the door once a day to check the mail. Today was gardener day which disturbs the hell out of the birds. It doesn't last too long but it's intense.

The folks really did do their best. It was just a lot of people under the roof with different needs and expectations. If watering gives you some zen time then I could appreciate it. If it's more of a chore then... The second half was definitely the one to watch. The first half was just build up to the release in the second.
