Having Teresa as my caregiver during the bone marrow transplant was huge It would have been nice to provide her a nice room and bed during that time. It was great to fall back on the folks but it wasn't the most comfortable of situations. I'm glad you're able to relax today and not have to deal with the heat too much. That section that had turned brown out front has recovered since I fixed the sprinklers. It was great to see the ladies win today. The Dutch played them tough for more than a half but the US team outplayed them in the second. Your sister's life will be plenty complete without having to feel an earthquake.

The walk-in closet is really there in case I have someone move in to keep an eye on me. I'll have a walk-in in my master bedroom just in case "she" ever shows up. I'm not expecting her or really looking for her but they're going to carry me out of that home in a pine box so I want to plan for all possibilities. I certainly wouldn't have enough clothes of my own to justify a walk-in closet. I'm not sure that your sister would feel being able to tell people she'd experienced a real earthquake as a big draw.

With any luck I'll be up in Oregon before anything significant hits here. I can certainly see the benefits of staying at a hotel if there's potential for squabbles. It's funny...when I play with my home design software I make certain that the guest room has a nice bathroom attached. I go back and forth on the walk-in closet. I want people to be comfortable but not inclined to want to move in. ;)

Earthquakes can be scary and even more so for those that have no experience with them. Ones own experience certainly impacts their overall impression. I freely admit that though I've been through many earthquakes, the fact that neither me or my loved ones have really been hurt by them...even Loma Prietta. Check back with me after another one hits in the Bay Area with lots of damage. Has it been three years? It seems like it was just a short time ago that the little one was celebrating one year. I hope your sister enjoys her visit. Have there been any tree frog sightings? I have another bird family but this one is out front right near my door. I only go out there to get my mail. It's pretty safe for them but I can't imagine they're happy when the gardener blows out clippings and such.

A 6.4 is worthy of taking note. Below 4 is nothing. Anything in the 5s will get your attention but when you crack 6 it can really be a problem as damage occurs. I haven't seen any reports of death or injury thankfully. I hope your family is safe.

There's not much more they can replace, is there? I think the odds are that you'll have some AT&T peace now. It seems like fur around the house is part of the package that comes with having wonderful furbabies. You're right that it's a small price to pay. I'd love to still be paying that price with Miss Becky...miss that girl.

Your AT&T service sure is finicky. I hope that new modem resolves it once and for all. That was sure a tense match with England. I'm glad the gals won. I'm not closely scanning my hair but there are a few gray ones in there. Overall it's far darker than it was before.

The ritual of reading the morning paper over coffee is a big one. I still kinda have that as I scan and read online with my morning coffee. The computer is more convenient than manipulating a newspaper. My weight is slooowly coming back. I know the energy and strength is improving though slowly. I'll get there. Are you looking forward to football season?

I appreciate someone who can carry a conversation but not non-stop. I haven't had a newspaper for years. Their online site was okay for a while but then they instituted a 3 free articles per month policy and I stopped going there. I have a few free sites that I rely on now but mostly I avoid the news...too depressing. Doc appointment went well today. Numbers all looked good. Had a pulmonary efficiency test and they say that went well.

I sure preferred it when you skipped a day of responding because you ran off with the girls instead of another day of hassles. I don't know that I'd want the birds talking too much. I've lived alone for too long and am comfy with plenty of silence. When I'm up at the folks' place Mom just can't handle "dead air" and fills in the space with conversation. That she already told me something during that visit doesn't seem to keep her from saying it again. Sigh...it makes her happy though. I don't share much with her because I know anything I say is added to her updates for everyone else. I hope your AT&T problems are resolved for good.

Was her friend the first owner of the birds? They've got 50 year lifespans...but I'm sure both you and your sis know that. Spain played our ladies hard. I was a bit concerned as well. You and your storms down there. I'll be in real trouble if blue skies start causing power outages.

The ladies definitely deserve equal pay. They are a much more entertaining "product" than the men's team. The guys just aren't as competitive as the women. I'll grant that the level of competition for the men is tougher but from an entertainment standpoint the ladies win hands down. I don't carry my cell phone with me. I probably should. It's a bummer that I've gone from bulletproof to vulnerable since last May. I never would have given things like this a second thought before that. Let's just say that falling isn't allowed for either of us.

There's only three steps from the garage into the house but there's no railing. I rely on bracing myself on the washer right now. Even one step is more than I want to deal with as my balance still isn't great. I'm pretty paranoid about falling. I haven't had any close calls but a fall would be bad...particularly living alone. Did you keep the same size screen or did you go a bit bigger? I'd imagine the picture is better at least. I'm watching the USWNT play against Sweden. We led 2-0 right now. Our ball control and passing is really impressive.

Let's hope this puts your tv issues to rest. Did you actually need the new tv or was it AT&T issues all along? Yeah, when I first got home it was kind of a struggle just getting up the stairs in the garage into the house. I really had to brace against things and pull myself up. I still grab things for balance but I can get myself in the house. If I'm carrying groceries then I'm really back to bracing for support. I was able to troubleshoot the sprinkler problem yesterday and I'm pretty sure it's fixed. Hopefully the dry area on the lawn recovers soon.

Are you thinking that the tv is fine and the root of all the problems are cable related? The sprinklers are still on the to-do list but I think I'm going to tackle that first thing this morning. I'd be content if I can at least diagnose exactly what the problem is. I may need to ask my gardener to do the actual fix if it's going to require getting down on hands and knees. I just don't have the leg strength to rise again without any additional support.

Wow...Dallas and tv hassles...you deserve to nap all day today...in front of the new tv. I slept most of yesterday and still slept well last night. I need to spend some time working on my sprinklers out front. I've got one area that isn't getting water and one on the other side of the driveway that lost its sprinkler and the water just shoots up when activated. I can shut that one off because that's an area handled by my neighbors now and they don't need that sprinkler. I didn't install the sprinklers and the order on the timer doesn't make sense. A little trial and error should allow me to figure it out. I just hope I can get the area on the lawn watered again.

I'm glad you founds some good eats. That's generally the best part of trips like that. Funny how we take things like water for granted. I'm glad Chuck was able to diagnose it quickly and get a plumber out quickly. Did Chuck get a new tv and get it set up? I need to buy a new one for the living room. I have an ancient 55" big box out there that doesn't work anymore. I've been content with the one in the study but with as much time as I'm spending on the couch these days a new flat screen out there would really be great. How's your back?
