It's no secret that there are some employers out there who think that they own your soul just because they're paying you for your work. Somewhere between now and the 15th century, they got lost in time and mistakenly thought they were feudal lords.
Unfortunately, there are more comparisons between medieval Europe and today than any of us would care to admit to. Hey, at least "Droit du seigneur" is a thing of the past… but you could probably draw some parallels between that and the legal lack of consequences for the wealthy and privileged too.
This viral thread went big this week on the r/antiwork subreddit, shared by u/InfiniteMaf. It details his story of standing up for himself in the face of one of the aforementioned employers.
With a bewildering level of forwardness u/InfiniteMaf's HR department called him in for a meeting to discuss his weekend activities. When it became clear where things were headed, u/InfiniteMaf decided he'd instead not work for that company anymore.
Just another case of a company ultimately costing themselves money and good employees through an obsession for control.
