    Many people were not impressed.

What seemed like a classic, like-baiting feelgood story quickly snowballed into complete madness, for the strangest of reasons.

    Not everybody was mad.

Font - froggysorrin @froggysorrin - 3d Replying to @Chinchillazilla i feel like the people who are saying stuff like "it's out of pity" and the boys need to "reflect on their life choices" don't understand that if they ARE college students they probably just left their parents home where their PARENTS cooked for them.

In case your faith in humanity needed restoring, many Twitter users wholeheartedly supported the gesture.

Despite the insane backlash, the story had a (kind of) happy ending.

Font - i bless the rains down in castame... @Chinchillazllla Delivered the chili. They seemed happy and said they had just been about to order food. They also asked permission to come over and nail the fence back up.

After a couple of days, the chili was gratefully received by the neighbors, who offered to mend a fence to return the favor. It's almost like it was a kind gesture that didn't need to be pathologized.
