I have appreciated the joys of thrifting since I was a teenager. That feeling of finding a fancy brand for dirt cheap, or that unique piece that you know you'll wear for years can't be beat. Also, it really feeds a 'not like other girls' complex to be wearing some old lady's clothes, rather than something off the sale rail in Forever 21. With the environmental impact of fast fashion being a pressing topic these days, it's never been a better time to start buying clothes secondhand. There are few things that the washing machine or a trip to the tailor can't fix, and with online reselling at an all-time high, you don't even have to leave the house to get your retail buzz. It's no surprise that thrift shopping is popular enough that there are a fair few memes about it. One thing's for sure, it's a habit that is hard to shake once you start.
