It's a sad fact that there are still many parents who would refuse to accept a LGBTQ+ child. Being a decent ally is pretty much the bare minimum of decency when this is the case, but some people just don't want to understand this.
This makes it all the more heartwarming to see parents who embrace kids for who they are; it should be what always happens, but we can't take it for granted. It also can be difficult when not everyone in the family is as open and accepting as others.
One Redditor recently found themselves in this dilemma with his wife. Sharing to r/AmItheAsshole that one of his twin sons had recently come out as gay, he got into an argument with his partner after she told him that showing physical affection towards him was now inappropriate because of his sexuality.
Unsurprisingly, nobody was on her side with this one. It sucks that this homophobic attitude could get in the way of a healthy family relationship.
