Boomer gave my son with celiac food with wheat on purpose. Boomer Story
  • 03
9 year old son went to a sleepover. Because he is celiac I purposefully pack snacks/breakfast for him. His friend lives with his parents and granddad and
  • 04
as soon as the granddad hears about the allergy he starts going on about how these allergies didn't exist when he was a kid bla bla bla.
  • 05
I show up the next morning and my son is throwing up and green. The Mom apologicetically tells me that the Granddad purposefully switched the breakfast to

one with wheat. I am normally mild tempered but I did yell at him and he can't let go that I use an F bomb. Anyways, the Mom apologizes a few more times and I spend the rest of the day nursing my son back to health.

Glittering Ma... OP 1h ago Update I spoke to the Mom - and she agreed I should press charges (we are pretty good friends). I feel she's pretty sick of his bs too.

out. (And yeah, that grandfather is a whole other issue. I doubt he even feels bad - he probably thinks the kid was "overreacting." Sheesh.)

Commana1 46m ago This infuriates me as someone with Celiac myself. It is hard enough having such a restricted diet that is a flawed solution at best due to how hard it is
  • 16
to avoid even the slightest trace of gluten, people like me do not need to be poisoned by some who does not believe in medical science.

Aware_Interes... 40m ago Millennial I'm so sorry that happened to him and you. I have celiac. I've gotten sick from gluten even touching the plate I was eating.
  • 18
You need to put this grandfather on blast with a taste of his own medicine: social media. If you have Nextdoor, Facebook, etc. Post in the local neighborhood forums about how your son got sick and this is how celiac works. Educate.

I'm so tired of this happening with the, "allergies aren't real" thing.

GM_Nate 4h ago last time i heard of something like this (a grandmother giving a peanut butter cookie to a grandchild with allergies), the parents rightfully went no-contact

alexaboyhowdy • 4h ago I know someone who is almost 90 who was diagnosed with celiacs in the '80s. Hardly anyone heard of it back then, even the doctors misdiagnosed her several times.
