I regret to say that I am getting to a point in my life that some may like to call "half marathon age". Out of nowhere, it seems like every other former colleague, high school friend, or college acquaintance has started making prolific social media posts about the stats of their morning run, or the latest race that they have completed. I can't deny that health is wealth and that it's important to have hobbies, but does everybody have to take up something that is so hard on their knees?
While exercise is something that we all need to be doing regularly, it has to be said that at times it can come across as more than a little performative. This is helped by apps like Strava, which allows people to share the length and, where applicable, path of their workouts. It easily gets to be insufferable, but thankfully some of its users have a sense of humor about it as well. Let some of the examples below be an inspiration to be more creative at the gym.
