Adorable mini Aussie puppy ready for training.

"First Time"
Hello all,
I’m looking any tips/advice for first time owners for mini Aussie. My husband and I are expecting to get ours end of September this year ! We have been doing research and know that this breed will be challenging with high energy, requiring lots of mental training and consistent schedule. I grew up with a yorkie and this will be the first dog for my husband. We have no other pets or kids atm... so we are ready to devote the time and attention as we both like the great outdoors and enjoy playing various sports. We have a yard and plenty of space in the house where we hope to section off to allow the dog to crate train, decompress, etc. There are parks and dog friendly trails nearby in our community.
I work from home almost 100% while my husband does not. I know i will be with the dog during the day but I also want to make sure the dog will be well adjusted when left alone as well. What are some tips /training should we do to reduce separation anxiety or to help the dog slowly get comfortable being alone from time to time?
Appreciate all the feedback :)

Training a mini Aussie puppy.

Oh goodness ya'll are in for a wild ride!🤣 My husband and I got our mini, Duncan, back in March. He was a wedding present to me lol.
I do pretty much all the training with Duncan. I did all the potty training, crate training, basic obedience, you name it and I’ve been doing it🤣 I didn’t expect how much energy he would have, even though that’s what everyone says. It’s easy to think “oh yeah I can handle that” but make sure yall are TRULY TRULYYYY prepared for the amount of energy these dogs have and mental stimulation (especially a puppy) required to be fulfilled.
Good on yall for wanting to crate train! It’s been a life saver lol. My biggest suggestion to avoid anxiety would be to practice with your puppy you leaving the room and reentering. Specifically while they’re in the crate if you plan on crating when yall leave the house. Do this for a few days and gradually increase the time. They are going to cry, and scream, a LOT. You have to be patient. Mine started really feeling comfortable and understanding the crate by about week 14ish (got him at 8 weeks). Also play lots and lot of crate games to get them comfortable!
Make sure yall invest in some puzzles to get their brain moving, my mini is now 5 months and we do a puzzle at least 2 times a day. Make sure you guys also put aside dedicated time for training sessions throughout the day while puppy is young. These dogs are very smart, but if unfulfilled can easily become destructive and bored. But it’s also just important to teach them basic obedience anyways, and I don’t mean just fun tricks. Actual basic obedience like impulse control.
Personally potty training and obedience training have been very easy for me because it’s not unusual for this particular breed to be food motivated, so just make sure you have some high value treats handy.
Socialize socialize socialize! Take puppy everywhere yall can while they’re that little. I personally put mine in a puppy stroller until he was fully vaccinated and just pushed him around. The breed is prone to anxiety and reactivity if not socialized properly.
Enforced naps are a game changer. The first week I had Duncan I couldn’t figure out why he was so cranky all the time. Girllll, I wasn’t letting him sleep enough!🤣 Make sure you’re getting those naps in.
All and all though just enjoy it while they’re little babies. Mine is getting so big it makes me so sad! But he’s my best friend and soul dog.
