A dog shelter in Arizona came across two stray dogs. They were picked up together but then quickly separated. The shelter keeps big dogs in one room and small dogs in the other, so this large pit mix and tiny white dog had to be alone for maybe the first time in their lives. The shelter quickly realized that these two were a bonded pair and needed each other. The large dog they named Trudy would light up like a fire whenever she was near the small dog they named Nugget. And Nugget was extremely fearful of humans, but adored Trudy and would only look happy when they were together. The shelter, however, has strict rules about keeping large dogs and small dogs separately, so they were heartbroken.
But that just made the shelter work even hard to find the bounded pups a loving home where they could live happily together.
Reunited:
The video of their reunion in the shelter is wholesome and loving. You can see how afraid Nugget was of the world without her dear friend. The second those two got back together, Nugget would not stop giving Trudy kisses. When the two were picked up off the streets, Nugget would hide behind Trudy like she were her bodyguard. You think the rescuers would've noticed right then that they needed to stay together, but it wasn't until they saw how miserable they were apart that they realized that these were a bounded pair.
TikTok is in love with the story and has given the video now over a million views. Viewers flooded the comment section with hope for these two to find a home together.
Brought in as Strays
Luckily, the most recent update they posted in the comments of the reunion video says that the two were adopted together and living a happy life. A beautiful ended for a heartbreaking story. This shelter has many lost and abandoned dogs looking for homes. This isn't their only dog story that could damn near break your heart. They are overfilled with dogs in their kennels looking afraid and alone. This is too frequent a story for poor dogs roaming the street. Nugget and Trudy got lucky being able to be found and then saved together. But many dogs loose their bounded pair from the street or never even had on to begin with. So it's important to take this story and use it more than just to feel good, but to be inspired to do something that will help future stray dogs.
