Cat Photos Replace Every Advert In Underground Station In London

The Citizens Advertising Takeover Service (CATS) started a crowdfunding campaign with a simple goal in mind; replace all the standard ads for protein shakes, mortgage apps and whatnot, and replace them all with cats.

Clapham Common Tube, an underground station in London is where you'll find this glorious display of cats. They have successfully covered over 60 adverts, now littered (pun intended) with kittens and cats from every possible angle!

That's like heading over to Scotland and telling them to stop speaking in Scottish accents. It's just plain wrong and dumb. This is some nice live TV awkward gold.

Pompous News Anchor Gets Roasted For Claiming That Millennials Can't Do Anything For Themselves

British Sky News anchor Jayne Secker has come under fire for her patronizing comments yesterday in an interview with Kirsty Archer, a young politician who stated that the cost of living in London is far too high for many people, and that getting evicted from a rental home could cost a tenant £2,000.

Secker, who is a landlord herself, countered Archer's comments by claiming that it's the young renters who are at fault here because they do not have the "basic skills" (including changing a light bulb and knowing how to turn on their heaters) to rent homes.

Secker later issued an "apology" tweet for her comments, which some are calling out for being a non-apology. You can watch the Sky News video and read some of Twitter's reactions to it below!

This New Animal Hospital In London Is Designed To Minimizes Stress

This animal hospital design by Alma-nac is a new solution in the city of London for all-hour emergency care. The design of The London Animal Hospital (TLAH) boasts all of the regular services offered by a veterinary practice, along with space for surgeries, pets to be isolated, as well as machines and scanners. One of the most distinctive features of the space is the way in which it has been arranged to keep pets calm, specifically by keeping dogs and cats separate. The longstanding rivalry between dogs and cats is playfully referenced with furniture pieces that say "cats only please" and separate routes that lead to back rooms. Although visiting the vet can be a stressful experience for pets, TLAH incorporates areas for play into consultation rooms to encourage pets to stay at ease. Via: Trend Hunter

In London, They Build Tiny "Highways" To Make Hedgehog's Life Much Easier

There are close to a million hedgehogs who are roaming the streets, parks and gardens of London, seeking out wood and vegetation to take refuge in. Barnes Hedgehogs, a local animal activist group decided to transform the city into a more hospitable environment for hedgehogs by drilling tiny "hedgehog highways" through the walls of the city. The passages are just wide enough for the animals to climb through, making it easier for them to travel from one green space to the next. Carving hedgehog highways through the stone partitions and wooden fences bordering parks and gardens is one way Barnes Hedgehogs is making life in the big city a little easier for its most prickly residents. Big like from us!

Cats in London in The 1950’s (10 Photos)

Thurston Hopkins was one of Britain's greatest photojournalists and part of the golden age of reportage. Working for Picture Post he captured the humanity, spirit and social inequality and contradictions of life in 1950s Britain. One of the first essays by Hopkins published in Picture Post was his 'Cats of London' (Feb 1951 edition), almost certainly suggested by the many cats he met while walking around the streets of London on other assignments. The blitz had made many cats homeless, and these strays had often established themselves in the bombsites, living and breeding more or less wild on the scraps the could find and that friendly neighbors put out from them. Even cats who still enjoyed good homes would spend much of their time on the streets; the cat flap was as yet unknown and every cat owner still 'put the cat out' as part of the ritual of retiring for the night. City cats were still street cats first and home cats when it pleased them. Hopkins started to collect pictures of these cats on the street, attracting them with a little food, and it made an interesting if not profound story.
