Woman Gets Laid off and Looks Happier Than Ever, Revisits Video of Her Crying Over Work and Laughs at Herself

The generations after Gen-X have finally collectively come to the realization that capitalism is kind of bullsh*t. You really expect us to work 30+ years of our lives non-stop, with only two weeks off a year, and then die? We don't have guaranteed social security! It all needs to come crumbling down. So when TikToker Abi aka @eeveeats revisited a video she posted of herself crying at her old job, she couldn't help but laugh at herself.

Still Working the Toxic Job:

The job was in tech and “soul sucking," according to Abi. In the initial video of her crying from work, it was because she was on her last straw. Everyone has had that boss who is always stressful and does everything they can do keep it that way. This time, her boss reached out to her to set up an impromptu meeting, she agreed to it and asked what the meeting might be about? Just a general subject matter so she doesn't have to anticipate the meeting in utter anxiety. But guess what? The boss totally ghosted her until the meeting. So, Abi awaited the meeting for hours in tears, sweating about every horrible possibility it could be about. Like, it's fine to not message someone back, we've all done it—it's sh*tty, but not the end of the world. But if you're a manager and you are constantly pulling this kind of BS, then yes, I would cry out of frustration too.

After Getting Laid Off:

Abi posted a video the day she got laid off and her reaction was not one you'd expect. Normally, people get laid off and it's time to go into crisis mode and it's scary. We've all seen the movies where someone gets laid off and they walk out of their office with that sad little box full of their dumb desk stuff and struggle on how they're going to tell their family, etc. But Abi's experience was different.

First off, she got six weeks of severance, so that's already a pretty nice start to losing a job. And secondly, and the most important point, being fired from this horrible job felt like a weight being lifted form her shoulders. No more demanding manipulative toxic boss making every second of her waking life a constant stress ball. She felt utterly free and for the first time, optimistic about her uncertain path now laid ahead of her.

Revisiting Video of Her Crying at Toxic Job:

She dueted her own video of that moment in time while she cried from her toxic work environment. She is still unemployed trying to figure out her life, but that is so insanely better than making money at her awfully demanding job that did nothing but make her miserable. Now she watches that video of her in distress because of a dumb job and she just laughs at herself. She feels like she is doing so much better, has learned so much from that horrible experience, and is now excelling forward feeling more confident than ever.
