‘You're useless anyway’: Entitled customer repeatedly scolds front desk employee, claims that "his" Presidential Suite was taken despite the room having been booked until 2025

  • We've heard it all. Front desk employees take enough from Karen customers, especially when they're usually not the ones who should be held responsible for whatever the entitled customers complain about. These ill-mannered people often do their dirty work under the influence of some grand delusion. Oftentimes, half of the spiels they berate you with are untrue, hyperbolized, or completely correct, and you're not sure why they are so upset in the first place. Sure, stupidity can be the culprit. But some entitled customers are, unfortunately, victims of their own entitlement and delusions.

    Like the customer in this story. A front desk employee at a hotel had to call a man and his wife to let them know that the suite they originally booked was not available, and they'd have to be downgraded to the tier below Presidential. The employee expresses in the comments that she's unsure as to how they booked a Presidential-tier room since both of those suites have been booked until 2025. She offered them a hefty discount for the different suite, but he continuously calls the Presidential Suite “his”, despite not having actually booked an available suite, He continues to berate her over the phone, calling her useless, and complains that a $99/night rate is still too high. When they get to the hotel the next day, he continues to yell and demand “his” Presidential Suite and the employee finds out that he is only staying there for one night. The guests in the Presidential Suite currently are doing a long-haul stay, so she obviously cannot compromise. You can guess what happens next.     He was only staying for one night. ONE NIGHT. After I lowered the price, & keep this in mind, he was still staying in a suite. So he got a MAJOR discount. Like his balance went from $149.99 to $99.00... my manager really didn't want any problems that day.

    Instead of saying "thank you" or "i appreciate it" ... he says: "it should be lower since you caused me so much stress. but whatever, i guess i'll just take it. you're useless anyway." He then hung up.

    The next day, he checked in with his wife. I greeted them, and asked under what name he was checking in under.. He stood there and threw his ID & credit card at me. And then he just kept talking with his wife about how he got downgraded because we were stupid. And that we just don't know how "important" he is...

    Then he asked me again to move him to his presidential suite... then proceeded to ask me who took the presidential suite from him. I canceled his reservation after that. & I asked security to just him out.

    He was resisting though. He kept demanding for the suite. And wife was just nodding and yelling with him. long story short, he got banned from the hotel. It was just the audacity for me... so ridiculous i swear.

    pepronianddietcoke OP. 4h ago no we don't overbook and that was the problem, there weren't any presidential suites available, yet he kept asking me to kick out whoever was there bc he felt "entitled" to it.... lol he was so stupid

Don't know if this "man" is a narcist, but a lot of the attitude for one is there. Glad he got kicked out and banned. Be careful though, people like that try and come. back despite being banned.
