She values her family member – AKA her dog – more than her friend's child, and there's nothing wrong with that. Furthermore, their daughter was in no real danger and only had really mild allergies that could be relieved with over-the-counter medicine. Sounds like the guests are the ones who didn't want to compromise, not our protagonist.

They absolutely intended to stay longer; many entitled people see a “guest house” as a free, second home.

Entitled guests demand that hosts rehome family dog because of 5-year-old daughter's mild allergies, refusal to compromise while living rent-free gets them kicked out: "The dog is family, they are guests"
For the longest time, my mother had me convinced that I was allergic to cats. As such, we rarely stayed long at a particular neighbor's house when we went to visit. She had a few indoor cats and on top of that, had a tendency to feed neighborhood strays. It wasn't unusual to see them flocking around her home several times a day. As it turns out, I am not allergic to cats at all. Who knows; maybe I was allergic as a kid and got over it with age, or maybe my mom didn't want to hang around too long at this lady's place.
In our story today, a couple similarly use their daughter's allergies as an excuse. However, instead of trying to leave early, they try to extend their stay at their host's home by demanding that they get rid of their dog. Our protagonist, the host, naturally refuses – especially considering that the child's allergies are mild at best. To get all the details and find out how the story ends, scroll down below!
