TikToker Goes Viral for Posting the Most Gen-Z Response Her Sister Ever Got as a Recruiter When She Passed on an Applicant

Gen-Z are starting to enter the corporate world and they're not leaving their anti-capitalism behind—they're making sure to bring that baby with them. How are they going to dismantle the boomer-centric work ethic you ask? Why, with memes of course! (And bluntly accurate email sign offs as well.)

TikToker Samantha Jane recently shared a story of her sister when she worked as a company employee recruiter. The sister had snapped to her the most epic response she ever got to denying an applicant. Usually when you apply for a job and they let you know that they're going to pass on you, most people respond with the boring old “okay, thank you for letting me know” or some might be bold enough to pleasantly ask why. But Gen-Z ain't got time for that. The world is on fire, inflation is the worst it's ever been, and no one can afford to buy a house. They're going straight to the money maker response.

“[She] used to work in recruitment when she lived in New Zealand, where we're from,” the TikToker explains. “Of course in recruitment you have to occasionally tell candidates that they weren't successful… This one candidate, who Hannah had done a round of interviews with, she didn't get the job. So Hannah emailed her and told her she hadn't been successful and instead of replying and being like, ‘okay, yeah, thanks for letting me know’ or whatever, this girl sends Hannah a meme—which is the most Gen-Z thing I've ever f*cking seen."

“No context, no other text, just the meme, ” she adds. “I love it.” Even though she loved the response, the girl still didn't end up getting hired. Viewers are upset about that, because, I mean, just look at it! The choice of meme? The execution? It's perfect. If it were Memebase, we'd probably reconsider are decision to pass, because this is epic-level memeing right here. We know the TikToker said this happened a while ago and we hope this person did end up find a job that fit them, but hey, if you're still looking, send your meme resume over to us! We absolutely love this.

A viewer commented, “Honestly I think they missed out on not hiring her 😂.” While another said, “I want to apply for jobs I’m not qualified for, just so I can reply with this when I get rejected 🤣👌🏻." Many viewers actually didn't even know you were supposed to respond to rejection emails, so now we're hoping they will with so, but with memes. Here at Memebase, we're all for the memeing workplace culture.
