Retail Worker Goes Viral for Karen-Repellent Hack by Acting like "Customer Service Barbie"

Anyone who has worked in customer service knows you always get that one customer who is a complete A-hole. The Karen customer. The boomer who blames you for the price inflations. The entitled rich kid who can't believe you're not waiting on them hand and foot. Etc. Retail workers are very good at putting on a fake smile and trying their hardest to help these customers, even though deep down they want to smack them as hard as they can across the face. Well, TikToker @taylorsaurasrex has the tip for you!

“This one is for the customers that come at you sideways from the get go,” she says in the video. She gives an example of her using it in her own life when a customer rudely approached her and was instantly calling her swear words under her breath. The TikToker said instead of her trying to argue with the customer or talk to her like a grown adult, she turned to her with wide eyes and started talking to her like Barbie.

“Well Hello ma'am! How may I help you?” she said to this Karen customer looking absolutely insane. “You gotta make sure those eyes are like ‘BAAHHH’," she adds. She says the Karen was completely thrown off. It works like a charm because you're not technically saying anything rude and you're still taking the approach of the antiquated saying ‘the customer is always right.’ But you're still kind of stickin' it to her by acting this way.

"Hi, I'm Customer

Viewers love the strategy and some even comment that they tried it and it was extremely successful. “Actually did this and had the customer complain to corporate that my happy attitude creeped her out. My manager didn’t know what to do with it,” one viewer commented. The tip is perfect for anyone who works in customer service. The hilarious hack might get you reported to your boss or corporate, but what is the Karen going to say? The employee was too happy? They was too helpful? It's a win win for every (well, except the Karen).

The TikToker has many experiences with these types of customers, so she's honed down her tactics. She posts tons of videos reenacting her experiences with these kinds of customers. It's a sad sad truth that this is a common occurrence for people who work in customer service, but at least we've got the new Customer Service Barbie hack.
