TikTokers are Losing It to this Girl's Irish Boyfriend Trying to Speak in an NYC Accent

TikToker Ginger aka @spice.gorl has gone viral with her Irish boyfriend before, so this isn't the first time posting about him. But boy, isn't it funny. 

The couple initially went viral when sharing their love story. The two meet during quarantine when they were both flipping through Tinder passport. The TikToker lives in the U.S. where her now-boyfriend is from Northen Ireland. Because of the travel band during the pandemic, he was unable to visit and they were long distant for several months. Eventually she was able to fly to hime and their meeting was epic. It of course went viral on TikTok and now the couple have been sharing their relationship every step of the way. It's obvious they're very much in love. 

First Meeting

The TikToker's most recent video, however, though still adorable, is not an update on the two's relationship. The video shows the Irish boyfriend trying his damn darnedest to impress his girlfriend of now over two years his “New Yorker accent.” I'm gonna tell you right now, he does not get it. 

“The cost of a Costa coffee is a quarter”

However, it's his determination and complete lack of embarrassment that makes this video pure gold. He is trying to say “the cost of a Costa coffee is a quarter.” I'm not exactly sure what exact he is doing, but it's not New Yorker and it's hilarious. The video is quickly gaining viralness and TikTokers are crying of laughter. 

Viewers are hoping this will become a series and we'll get to see him trying out different accents from around the U.S. and maybe even see the TikToker, who is a native-New Yorker try a Irish accent. For now, the video of him struggling so hard to get this NYC accent down will have to do. Many viewers are also commenting that though it is most definitely not a NYC accent, it's pretty close to a Boston one. And viewers form the U.K. are commenting saying this is 100% what New Yorkers sound like to them. So perhaps it's all just about perception.But either way, TikTokers are having a blast laughing at this entire raw scenario that's simply hilarious to all, even non-New Yorkers.
