Vintage Beauty Pageant Queens Of The Food Industry

I think it's safe to say that the concept of beauty pageants is somewhat outdated, at least in their original format of judging and ranking contestants' physical attributes only. But nestled among the beauty pageants of old are the lesser-known vintage food-themed contests, which saw women's beauty celebrated alongside various produce. From Miss Idaho Potato, 1935 to Donut Queen, 1951, here is the only beauty pageant I will endorse. Mixing food with fashion is something I will always support, and celebrating food, in general, is a worthy endeavor. So scroll through these bizarre pictures of the food industry's beauty queens and be as baffled but amazed as I am at their splendor.

People Cover Their Tongues With Glitter For Instagram Trend

There aren't many body parts you can't cover when it comes to glitter. Some jazz up their armpit hair with the stuff, whereas others like to bedazzle their butt cheeks. Whatever floats your boat. But perhaps one of the weirdest places to put glitter is your tongue (and probably the most dangerous, unless it's edible glitter), but for some reason, people are still doing it. Instagram is the home of all ridiculous beauty trends, and this one certainly takes the cake. Just search the #glittertongue on Instagram and you'll see plenty of similar images to the ones below. Honestly, where does it end?!

Beauty Blunder Of The Week: Best Of MulletFest 2020

We're back with this week's ridiculous beauty blunder, and it comes in the form of mullets. Yes, that's right, possibly one of the word's most divisive hairstyles and one that you thought died with the '80s. It may come as a shock to learn mullets are still very much alive today and is actually celebrated at an annual festival called Mulletfest. Taking place in Kurri Kurri, Australia, it is, according to the official website, "an event that honors the best Mullet cuts in various styles and categories, including 'everyday', 'grubby', 'ranga' (red hair), 'vintage', 'extreme', 'international' and 'junior'".

You're probably like me and had no idea that so many mullet options existed. You learn something new every day. Photographer Craig Gibson from the UK attended the Mulletfest 2020 to document all of the best, aka worst contestants of this horrific hairstyle. Here they are for you to peruse.

Photographer With Vitiligo Takes Stunning Pictures Of Women With Same Condition

Unfortunately, people tend to stare when they come across anyone who appears to be physically distinctive in some way. It's just human nature, but we unknowingly perpetuate stigmatization of being 'different'. It's not a good thing! Photographer Elisabeth Van Aalderen is trying to create beauty out of our differences, by capturing pictures of women who have Vitiligo (a skin condition that causes patches of skin to lose its pigment cells (melanocytes), resulting in the discoloration of patches in different areas of the body). Seeing the positivity in all types of physical appearances spreads the message to these women and the general public, that everyone is beautiful, no matter what they look like on the outside.

Women On Twitter Inspires Others To Appreciate Their 'Before' Noses

In a world so focussed on external looks, social media, and "ideal" beauty standards, it isn't always easy to feel beautiful. While we should be embracing our "flaws" and "imperfections" — because that's what makes us unique — we live in a society that encourages us to photoshop the blemishes from our pictures and get surgery to fix anything that's less than perfect on our bodies. Although there's a growing movement to change these attitudes, there is a lot more that come be done. One woman's tweet about the shape of her nose looking like a "before" photo, but loving herself anyway, has gone viral and has inspired other women to comment on the same topic. Here are some of the beautiful replies from women who have learned to love the unique shape of their noses and embrace their bodies.
