Family Photoshoot Gone Wrong: Little Girl Gets Accidentally Thrown Into the Air, Sparking Controversy In the Comment Section

Back in the 80’s and 90’s it was common to be forced to take embarrassing family photos with an abstract background, overlay faded portraits, and/or matching outfits. Nowadays, with the dawn of the Pinterest and Facebook era, many young families have decided to go a different route and hire a professional photographer (and not a mall employee) to take their family portraits.

Rebecca L Photography is a family portrait and bridal photography specialist based out of Michigan. She takes incredibly intimate and original photos of her subjects, oftentimes out in the woods or near a lake, emphasizing the beauty of nature alongside her client’s family.

However, things took a turn for the worst one fateful autumn day…

While doing a family photoshoot in the forest with what looks like a mother, father, and their 3 year old daughter, disaster struck when the child’s tiny hand slipped right out of her dad’s grip, right in the middle of a dual-parent swing.

Let’s take family photos, they said… it’ll be fun, they said…

Mid-swing, the girl goes flying diagonally into the air, her trajectory taking her straight up into the sky, careening out of control. The parent’s reactions (as well as the child’s) are captured in the most incredible photo, as chaos takes over this tranquil forest.

Despite Rebecca, the photographer, adamantly repeating that the child was unharmed by the fall, controversy struck in the comments section. Apparently the dual parent swing is incredibly dangerous for young children and it’s no wonder that the girl went flying into harm’s way. One follower even said that their cousin got both shoulders dislocated attempting the same maneuver. OUCH.

Despite the attacks in the comment section, Rebecca steadfast by the fact that the girl was unharmed and this stunt proved to provide excellent family photo material. Perhaps in the future, she might advise against swinging your child in the air because of the inherent risks involved. Or maybe Rebecca will simply let parents do the thing they do best, create lasting memories of thrill and chaos that their child can have forever commemorated by the world’s most iconic photo.
