Spirit Airlines Alerted Passengers of a Change in Flight Departure Time AFTER it had Already Left, TikToker Claps Back

If you've ever flown anywhere, you've probably experienced the nightmare it can be to deal with airlines. Even the top airlines have messed up and caused stressful situations for everyone involved. Sometimes you miss a flight or a flight gets cancelled. That's just the dice you roll when you decide to fly. And most airlines know this and have backup plans for these sort of situations. Except good 'ole notoriously cheap and unreliable Spirit Airlines.

Spirit Airlines is a go-to for affordable flights. But past customers are asking you, at what cost? Complaints about this airlines makes a list long than Santa's naughty or nice one. Recently, TikToker Kaley Reed posted about a horrible experience she was going through with Spirit Airline and has since gone viral because of it. The woman was in Las Vegas with her husband and was taking Spirit Airlines to go home. Or were they?? Spirit had different plans for them, little did they know. On the day of their departure flight, they got to the airport an hour before they were supposed to be at the gate. When they got to security, they stumbled upon a snag. The airport personnel said their flight had already taken off and that they missed it, so their boarding pass was no longer valid and the could not enter. The couple were so freakin' confused. Reed went to check her email to see if she missed something and what she found absolutely boggled her mind.

Their flight was at 4pm, they got to the airport at 2:45pm. When she checked her email to see what in the world happened, she saw an email come in at 3:02pm saying her Spirit flight had been change to leave at 3pm. The email was sent two minutes after the flight had already taken off…

Never Fly Spirit

Reed posted the first video of the situation while in the midst of it at the airport. Spirit Airlines was refusing to refund her since she “missed” her flight and there were no other flights going to her destination on any airlines that day. So her and her husband were really thrusted into a pickle because of Spirit Airlines. A few days later Reed posted an update video and still stands by advocating no one ever fly Spirit Airlines.

She did, however, end up getting her refund no thanks to Spirit. She says in the update that she posted about the situation on Instagram and tagged Spirit Airlines. They reached out and sounded super apologetic and asked for her confirmation number of the flight so they could send her a refund. So Reed sent them the information, but they ghosted here—it was all for show. So Reed had to give up on her efforts working with Spirit and decided to take a different route. She reached out to the credit card company that she purchased the tickets with, told them the situation, showed them all the proof that the airline didn't tell them their flight had changed until 2 minutes after the flight had left, and the credit card company absolutely agreed with her. The approved a fraudulent charge and Reed was able to be refunded the money.

Update: “Spirit Still Sucks”

She said she and her husband had to stay two extra days in Las Vegas, which was an extra expensive they were not prepared for. Though they had fun, they still had to pay for two extra days at a hotel, for meals, transportation, and to extend their dog sitter's days back home. “Never f****ing fly Spirit, don't do it, ” Reed says. “Pay the extra, however many hundreds dollars it is to get a Delta flight because they are reliable, they will get you to your destination, and if you fly [Spirit] you're gonna have to spend extra money anyways.”

She even adds that after posting her first video, tons of other people reached out to her saying the same exact thing happened to them with Spirit Airlines and they were never able to get a refund. At least now we know, credit card companies are savvy to Spirit's griff and you can get your money back that way if the airline is refusing and/or ghosting you.
