Three Ways to Spot a Fake Floridian: Florida Man Viral on TikTok for Sunshine State-Relatable Content Lays Down "Real" Floridian Rules

Florida has quite the reputation in many different ways. One way is that it's a goddamn beautiful state that many Americans go to vacation to or retire in. There are beaches ‘a plenty and breathtakingly gorgeous and one of a kind habitats to explore. The second way Florida is seen, is through it’s law where every crime must be made visible to the public… So, either other states are being hush hush about their wild crimes, or all that sun is going to Floridians' head and they're committing some totally outlandish things.

However, if you're a true blue born and raised Floridian then you know that's just how things go in the sunshine state. TikToker @omgitswicks goes viral often for his Florida-related content all the time. He recreates relatable situations that anybody who has ever been to Florida (or even has just read about Florida) understands. He also knows how to perfectly capture the essence of the “Florida man." Lots of squaring up with alligators, partying in storms, etc.

He recently has gone viral for laying down the three sure ways to point out a “fake Floridian.”

1. Alligators

Florida has alligators waltzing around like raccoons in other parts of the country. Real Floridians never panic when they come across an alligator because they know attacks are rare and they have to be able to share this gorgeous ecosystem. So if you hear someone in Floridian constantly talking about their fear of alligators or refuse to get in the water because “what if there's an alligator in there?!” Then they are definitely not Floridians.

2. Storms

Storms are another common occurrence in the sunshine state—how do you think all the lush greenery stays so vibrant and green? In many states, storms are a time of warning. People stock up on essential because they are ready to weather the worse. However, in Florida storms are so often and so wild, that if it's just a tropical storm or only a category 1 hurricane, there is no need to panic. In fact, that's apparently a time when the real Floridians are stocking up on party supplies rather than survival supplies.

3. Driving on the Interstate

This Florida man declares this to be the most important rule of Florida and if you don't follow this you truly are not from around there. And that is, when driving on the Interstate, if you are in the left lane, you better be going well over the speed limit. True Floridians know that the left lane is for illegal speeds only. So, if you see a slowpoke in the left lane of the Interstate, then you know they are not from Florida.
